Arsenal step up transfer plans for strike duo

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)Arsenal are looking to step up their plans to draft in both Karim Benzema and Fernando Llorente, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Real Madrid and Juventus pair have been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for some time, and the Frenchman is now ready to launch moves for their signatures following his side’s weekend defeat to Manchester United.

The Gunners chief is believed to have made securing a new centre-forward his top priority over the coming transfer windows after growing concerned by his side’s reliance on Olivier Giroud.

Benzema is thought to be Wenger’s top target, and a £27.5m offer is rumoured to be being readied ahead of the New Year.

The French international has featured regularly for Real this term, but has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu thanks to his inconsistent form and Los Blancos’ pursuit of Liverpool ace Luis Suarez.

Llorente is also on Wenger’s wish list.

The Spanish hit-man only completed his long-awaited move to Juventus over the summer, but is already considering his options after failing, so far, to hold down a regular starting berth.

A winter loan move has been mooted, but the Old Lady are keen to keep him until at least the end of the year, at which time Arsenal could launch a £15m move.

Could Fernando Llorente and Karim Benzema be the best strike pairing in the Premier League?
