West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew is confident that Jonny Evans will stay at the Hawthorns beyond the end of the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Arsenal are still interested in signing Evans, but are not prepared to meet West Brom's £20m asking price ahead of Wednesday night's deadline.

The Gunners are currently working on sealing a deal for Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the Gabon international arriving in London on Tuesday afternoon.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still said to be in the market for a new centre-back though, with Evans his number one target during the winter window.

Pardew, however, does not believe that the Northern Ireland international will leave the Baggies on transfer deadline day.

Pardew told reporters:

“I think Jonny Evans will stay at this football club."

It is understood that Evans can leave West Brom for as little as £3m if the Baggies are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the current season.
