According to the Mirror, Arsenal are considering a swoop for Manchester United's Andreas Pereira as they look to bolster their midfield options with Aaron Ramsey's summer exit looming. By making the switch from red to red and white in January, the youngster would be making the best decision of his career.

What's the word?

Well, the reports suggest that the exciting Brazilian could be available for as little as £10m - like Ramsey, his contract expires in June this year - and that United are willing to let him go, despite having the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

If the Red Devils are indeed keen on cashing in for the 22-year-old before he leaves for free at the end of the season, it seems as though there will be a bidding war come January as Chelsea are also in the hunt.

With Mesut Ozil now in his 30s and Ramsey set to depart, the Gunners need a new playmaker to provide some competition at the Emirates and, if all goes to plan, Pereira could be that man.

A fresh start

The former PSV youth prospect got a transfer to Old Trafford in 2012 but has only made 18 appearances for the first team in almost seven years in Manchester - he will surely be relishing the opportunity for a fresh start and will feel that he is owed a proper shot at the Premier League.

Having spent last season on loan at Valencia and made 29 appearances in all competitions, the right-footer chalked up a goal and five assists as he predominantly played as a central midfielder for Los Murcielagos.

Andreas Pereira (Valencia) v Alaves

With Unai Emery debuting a 3-4-3 formation on Sunday as his side edged out Bournemouth in a 2-1 win, the Belgian-born youngster's versatility would be an asset to a manager who is not afraid to chop and change - the Spaniard's surprise decision to drop Mesut Ozil at the weekend proved his willingness to leave out the club's biggest names and this should show Pereira that a move to London would not see him warm another bench.

The project going on at the Emirates is an exciting one and, should the opportunity arise, one that the starlet should become a part of.
