Arsenal target “honoured” by rumours

The agent of Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne says the forward is “honoured” to be linked with a move to Arsenal, according to ESPN.

The London club have been linked with a £17million move for the Italian, who scored 3 goals for Rafa Benitez’s side this season. However, agent Antonio Otaiano has said a move to England would be difficult:

“We take into account the praising reports that [Arsene] Wenger has given about the player,” said Otaiano.

“We are honoured that a club like Arsenal could have Lorenzo on their wish list. However, from here to take it to the next level, that is a possible transfer, there is a huge mountain in between named ‘Napoli’.

“The club consider him without a shadow of a doubt as one of their cardinal players for their ambitious project. Hence, as of today, I don’t see that there can be any further developments unless Arsenal speak to Napoli directly and Napoli change their view on Lorenzo’s role here.”

The Gunners were unfortunate to lose goal scorers Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott through injury for long spells of last season, and Arsene Wenger is expected to strengthen his attacking options this summer. But Insigne may be a lost cause according to his agent.
