Rafael Benitez was reportedly looking to take advantage of Arsenal‘s failure to progress their interest in the Brazilian.
However, Villarreal President Fernando Roig has contacted QPR to make known their intentions of signing Cesar.
The former UEFA Club Goalkeeper of the Year is seen by Villarreal as a strong competitor for first team shot stopper Juan Carlos Sanchez.
Spanish newspaper Marca reported last week that President Roig was to drop interest in other goalkeeper targets in order to sound out Cesar.
Brazil’s number one can leave QPR for €3million, due to The Hoops’ relegation, which has made him the subject of interest from clubs across Europe.
And Harry Redknapp has made it clear that there is very little chance of Cesar not moving on.
“Julio Cesar will move on. He’s a top class goalkeeper. He won’t want to play in the Championship, he’s a goalkeeper for a big club,” Redknapp said.
The 33-year-old is vastly experienced, having played over 500 professional club games in his career and won multiple team and individual accolades.
