The Uruguayan, who has been heavily linked with a move to rivals Arsenal, has settled on staying in Merseyside.
After the Reds rejected two bids from Arsene Wenger, it seemed that Suarez was not going to be allowed to leave Anfield. But now Suarez has said he is happy to stay at the club, because of the supporters.
“Right now, because of all the affection of the people, I will be staying,” he told Uruguayan newspaper El Observador.
After Suarez accused manager Brendan Rodgers of breaking promises made to him, the forward was forced to train alone, and told he must apologise to his teammates and manager for his disrespect. But despite reports suggesting Suarez had no intention of apologising, Uruguayan media are now reporting that the forward has said he will be staying at Anfield.
Suarez scored 23 league goals last season before picking up a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, and Rodgers is keen to keep the high scoring forward as he looks to build a push for the Champions League places.
His campaign starts against Stoke on Saturday, where Suarez must watch from the stands as he continues his ban.
Will Suarez stay at Anfield? How have Reds fans reacted to the news from Uruguay?
