Arsenal target wants Premier League stay

QPR Goalkeeper Julio Cesar

Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar has admitted that he would like to stay in the Premier League, according to talkSPORT.

The QPR keeper is a target for Arsenal, who are looking for a more senior number one to replace Wojciech Szczesny. And it appears that Arsene Wenger’s men are Cesar’s preference.

“I have been fine in the Premier League – we were relegated because the season was strange, but London is a beautiful city,” he told Calciomercatonews.com.

“I want to stay in England, where the football has impressed me, but I do not know what will happen.”

Cesar, who won a domestic and European treble with Inter Milan in 2010, is also being linked with a return to Serie A, with Roma the interested club.

The keeper kept five clean sheets in his 24 league matches this season, as QPR were relegated to the Championship. Cesar is one of many big names expected to leave Loftus Road this transfer window, as the Rs aim to cut their high wage bill over the summer.

The 33-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Brazil’s recent friendly with England, which finished 2-2. If he were to join Arsenal, he would be teaming up with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who scored against him in the match at the Maracana.

Would Cesar be a good signing for Arsenal? Should Szczesny be replaced?
