Arsenal thwarted in late move for Chelsea star

Chelsea striker Demba BaArsenal saw their late move for Chelsea’s Demba Ba knocked back, with Jose Mourinho refusing to do business with a direct rival, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Gunners made an audacious loan move for the out-of-favour Senegalese front-man yesterday, as they searched for adequate back-up for first choice striker Olivier Giroud.

The North Londoners even offered a £1.5m fee to push the deal through, but Mourinho stepped in to block the move, citing their presence as rivals at the top end of the table as a big factor.

Although West Ham, Newcastle and Napoli were all believed to be interested, Ba failed to secure a move away from Stanford Bridge, and is set to remain at the club until at least January.

With the likes of Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o already at ‘The Special One’s’ disposal, it’s unlikely that the powerful front-man will enjoy much playing time in West London.

One man allowed to leave Chelsea on loan was Victor Moses.

The Nigerian winger completed a deadline day switch to Liverpool in search of regular first-team football.

The wide-man fell down the pecking order at the Blues following the arrivals of Willian and Andre Schurrle.
