Arsenal to end striker transfer pursuit in next 24hrs, price too high for Wenger

Arsenal’s pursuit of Lyon ace Alexandre Lacazette is set to end within the coming 24 hours, with the Telegraph reporting that the French club will inform them that his price-tag is now €70m (£60.2m).

The Gunners have been heavily aligned with the France international of late, with speculation having suggested that talks are ongoing between the Londoners and their continental counterparts.

However, Lyon have no desire to sell their key man and are even believed to be plotting a contract offer to make him the highest earning player in their history.

And now reports claim that they will tell Arsenal on Thursday that their valuation sits at £60.2m, which is likely to signal the end of the Premier Leagues heavyweights’ interest in the 25-year-old.

Lacazette is widely considered to be one of the top players in Ligue 1 and has netted 48 goals in the division over the course of the past two season.
