Arsenal to make fresh striker bid

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)Arsenal are considering making a move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney once the transfer window re-opens, according to reports from Goal.

The Gunners were heavily linked with the unsettled England international over the summer, but a deal failed to come to fruition.

Since then, Rooney has returned to United’s starting XI and is believed to be happy at Old Trafford.

However, privately he is believed to be open to a switch away from the Premier League champions and is refusing to commit his future to the club.

The 27-year-old is entering the final 18 months of his £250,000-per-week contract and claimed earlier this year that he was growing disillusioned with life at United.

Arsenal have been alerted by these developments and could look to take advantage of them this winter.

Arsene Wenger is keen to add a top quality striker to his squad in an attempt to maintain his side’s fantastic start to the season.

Chelsea were also linked with Rooney over the summer and had multiple offers for his signature rejected.

The Blues may re-enter the race if the former Everton prodigy’s future continues to remain on shaky ground.

Rooney has also been linked with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Could Wayne Rooney really become an Arsenal player?
