Arsenal are planning a shock bid to bring Wayne Rooney to the club this summer.
The Manchester United forward handed in a transfer request earlier this month, after becoming unhappy with his role at the club.
Arsene Wenger seems ready to break the club’s wage record to sign the England international. The Gunners’ highest paid player is Theo Walcott on £90,000-a-week. But reports in the Mirror suggest the club are ready to offer at least £150,000-a-week for the 27-year-old.
Since handing in a transfer request, Rooney has been linked with PSG, Monaco and Chelsea in recent weeks.
PSG have been rumoured to be ready to offer Rooney £300,000-a-week to play in Ligue 1, but it is unknown if the forward is keen on a move to France.
After the club finished in 4th place on the last day of the season, Wenger looks set to be handed a huge transfer kitty, to rebuild the once successful club.
