Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez in a deal that could cost as much at €44m (£37.1m) and be done within 48 hours, according to reports from Le Buteur.
The Algerian ace starred as the Foxes won the Premier League title last term, netting an incredible 17 goals, while weighing in with 11 assists.
His efforts scooped him the PFA Player of the Year award, but despite the heroic achievements of Claudio Ranieri’s side, his future at the King Power Stadium has been in doubt of late.
Although Jamie Vardy rejected a potential move to Arsenal, the other member of the club’s magnificent trio, N’Golo Kante, has left, and it’s since been claimed that Mahrez himself is considering his options.
And now Algerian outlet Le Buteur claim that they have information from a British journalist that a deal to take the attacking star from Leicester to Arsenal will go ahead within the next two days.
Further to this, it’s understood that a fee of around £37.1m will be needed, which falls just short of his release clause.
It’s worth noting that North African football expert Maher Mezahi has expressed doubts surrounding the report.
