Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has told Arsenal to forget about signing Karim Benzema this summer.
The Frenchman has emerged as a £46m target for the Gunners of late, with Arsene Wenger thought to be keen to add a proven goalscorer to his ranks to support Olivier Giroud.
Benzema’s Real future has been up in the air for much of the summer following the arrival of Benitez, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti in the Bernabeu dugout, with suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo could lead the line under the ex-Liverpool gaffer having done the rounds.
However, Benitez has moved to quash talk of the ex-Lyon star leaving for Arsenal by insisting that he will “stay” and that the La Liga giants are “very happy” with him:
“He will stay with us, I can’t see any reason why he would leave. We are very happy with him”

Benzema joined Real way back in 2009 and has gone on to win La Liga, the Champions League, two Copa del Reys and the FIFA Club World Cup in a glittering spell in Madrid.
