The France international – who represented his nation at last summer’s World Cup – has been a target for the Gunners for some time, with reports last summer having claimed that there was genuine interest from the Londoners.
However, the Saints battled to keep their man amid sales of other key players, and have been rewarded with a season of consistent showings from him.
But with the South Coast side slipping away from the top four and Champions League qualification, they may face a tough task convincing the one-time Strasbourg man to stay again.
And Parlour has called on Arsenal to land the 25-year-old if he becomes available:
“Arsenal need to get Morgan Schneiderlin if he’s available in the summer,” he is quoted by Goal.
“He would be perfect. He’s a little bit like Gilberto Silva when he was at Arsenal.
“He can sit back into the back four and, when it’s wide, he can be another centre-half. That’s so good if you can do that. He’s so comfortable on the ball and someone like him would be a great addition.”
Schneiderlin has been a part of the Southampton squad since their days in League One.
