PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed Arsenal were never in the hunt for his signature this summer, reports the Evening Standard.
Speculation had been rife over the course of the transfer window about a move for the swaggering Swede, who famously rejected a trial with the Gunners when he was a teenager.
However, it has emerged that manager Arsene Wenger had made no attempt to land the 33-year old, who is entering the final year of his deal in the French capital.
‘No, so the interest that existed, I have not committed myself to,’ claimed the Sweden international, rejecting rumours of Premier League interest.
The former Barcelona star had also been linked with a move to Manchester United to reunite with old Ajax boss Louis van Gaal.
Ibrahimovic also quashed hope that he would return to AC Milan, the club he left to join the Parisians in 2012, describing them as ‘desperate’.
It now looks like the towering front man will play out his contract with PSG, declaring him and his family ‘feel good’ about life in France.
Wenger goes into the new season with only Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as natural centre-forwards, having been linked with a host of stars during the summer.
