Arsenal should make an ambitious move for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro instead of Atletico Madrid's Filipe Luis, who Kickoff report is a January target.

What's the word?

Unai Emery's career as Arsenal manager has got off to a mixed start in terms of results.

The club lost their opening two Premier League matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, but earned back-to-back wins over West Ham United and Cardiff City.

Despite hitting winning ways, the Gunners are yet to keep a clean sheet having conceded eight goals in total.

Emery brought in five new signings in the summer window, but reports have already emerged regarding possible January arrivals.

According to Kickoff, Filipe Luis is wanted to strengthen the left-back department, and it is believed that a move could be made in the winter as the Atletico Madrid player's contract expires at the end of the season.

Why is Sandro a better option?

The 27-year-old has been linked to the Premier League before, but he remains at Juventus, where he has been since 2015.

The Brazilian would be a much more expensive option than Luis as he is valued by Transfermarkt at £40.5m, but Juve are likely to demand a higher fee.

However, he has the skill and ability to help Arsenal return to the top four in the Premier League.

Sandro has bags of strength, which coupled with energy and speed makes him a force down the left-hand side.

As well as being able to carry out defensive duties, the Brazilian can play further forward as a winger.

The former Porto star is not afraid to take men on and can be crucial in attacks with his pin-point passing.

A deal is unlikely given how much he would cost, but Arsenal should certainly keep a close eye on his situation.
