According to French source Telefoot, Arsenal are willing to match Lille's £44m asking price for red-hot winger Nicolas Pepe, with the Ivorian also attracting interest from Bayern, Dortmund and Chelsea.

A left-footed right winger, the former Angers man is adept at cutting infield and has chalked up eight goals and seven assists in just 12 games to help Lille soar to third in the standings. Only fellow Ligue 1 speedster Kylian Mbappe has been directly involved in more goals in all competitions (17) across Europe's top five leagues.

Arsenal are preparing for life without Aaron Ramsey as the Welshman's contract controversy seems to be finally resolved and Pepe will be seen as the former Cardiff man's replacement.

Beyond Alex Iwobi, the Gunners currently lack natural wingers with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being shifted out wide in Unai Emery's five man midfield so Pepe would perhaps bring more balance to the side.

However some Arsenal fans feel that that kind of money can be better spent, with others believing that the answer to the winger void is already on the books.

Here's how they reacted on Twitter.
