Arsenal's 2019 summer pre-season tour of the United States ended in defeat.

But still, it was a glorious and dramatic game against Real Madrid that had four goals, two red cards and, finally, a penalty shootout that saw the Gunners leave Washington DC defeated.

It was hardly your stereotypical friendly fixture.

Apart from it being a clash of two big players in European football and a complete anomaly in the context of pre-season friendlies, it was also a reunion of sorts for some of the players.

Mesut Ozil faced his former club almost six years after he left the Bernabeu.

And the 30-year-old midfielder quickly took to

Ozil captioned it as "It was good to see you, bro" and then proceeded to thank all the supporters in the United States.

Both players played a part in the big clash even though neither made it onto the score sheet.

Ozil appears to be in good spirits moving into the new season, so could a period of revival be looming on the horizon?
