Arsenal have gone some way to reassuring their fans in the very last stages of the transfer window that they are willing to spend their transfer kitty with bids to sign both Mesut Ozil and Demba Ba. However, imagine the rage of a whole host of fans last week when it emerged that the next Arsenal lotto draw was worth £17.1 million!
That money could be used to sign a half decent player, nearly 2 and ¾ of Yohan Cabaye if you’re Arsene Wenger to be precise. To use politically correct language, you could say there was a venomous backlash to the ill sense of timing from those making the big decisions at the Emirates Stadium. Not a great one for positive PR with the fans at a time when hostility is present with the hierarchy in the boardroom.
The draw date could not have been more ironic- the 31st August (the classic deadline day date but not this year) and the advert is also complete with a countdown clock reminiscent of Sky Sport’s Deadline Day coverage haha! In a further sign that Arsenal need to press ahead with business the man featured- Lukas Podolski will be side-lined for 10 weeks with a hamstring injury! Spend Arsene, spend!!
