Arsenal’s Mustafi deal expected ‘by the end of week’, striker also wanted before deadline – expert

Arsenal are hopeful of getting a deal for Shkodran Mustafi of Valencia “done by the end of the week” despite claims that a move is on the verge of collapsing, while a new striker remains on Arsene Wenger’s agenda, according to Emanuele Giulianelli.

The Gunners have once again been quiet in terms of incoming deals this summer, with Granit Xhaka the headline arrival at the Emirates Stadium, with youngsters Rob Holding and Takuma Asano also snapped up.

Following their Premier League-opening loss at home to Liverpool, fans have openly called for more signings before the close of the window in a few weeks’ time, but there have been suggestions that a much talked-about deal for Mustafi is on the verge of collapsing.

However, well-known Italian football writer Giulianelli believes that the deal is by no means dead, with terms agreed between Arsenal and the player, while Wenger is also keen to add another striker to his ranks:

He tweeted: “Mustafi update: still bid no accepted, although personal terms agreed and player requested the move. Still expect to be done by end of week.

“Arsenal striker situation: no movement on that front. Wenger still keen to bring one in during the last few days of the window.”

In terms of a new striker, Arsenal are thought to be keen on Alexandre Lacazette, but Lyon’s £60m valuation is a stumbling block.
