With half an hour or so gone on the clock, Arsene Wenger’s side find themselves 2-0 up already against Belgium outfit Anderlecht in the Champions League.
After a rather open game, which saw both sides go close, Mikel Arteta slotted home from the spot to ease the nerves around the Emirates. Following the Spaniard’s opener, Alexis Sanchez added a second in spectacular fashion as Arsenal entered ‘cruise control’.
The Chilean won a free-kick on the edge of the area, took the resulting free-kick only for it to hit the wall, however, that sparked the former Barcelona man into life as with the rebound still airborne, Sanchez connected with a sweet volley that went into the bottom corner despite the goalkeeper’s best efforts.
That was Sanchez’s eleventh goal since joining the Gunners and he is well on the way to legend status!
Naturally, Twitter loves the forward, too
