Arsene Wenger coy on £30m transfer link

Liverpool striker Luis SuarezArsenal boss Arsene Wenger has played down reports that he could make another swoop for unsettled Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

The Gunners had a shock £30m offer for the controversial Uruguayan rejected by the Merseysiders last week, but the player himself admitted that he was flattered by the interest being shown in his signature.

This has led to speculation that the Reds could be willing to do business with their domestic rivals if their rumoured £40m valuation of the attacker is met.

However, when asked about his interest in Suarez, Wenger was dismissive:

“Suarez? As you all know, the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I am not going to answer that question.” He is quoted by The Sun.

Suarez has been very open in his desire to leave Anfield this summer, citing the treatment he has received from some English media outlets as a major factor in his decision.

However, it has since emerged that he is keen on securing Champions League football, something that Arsenal can offer him.

If a move were to be completed it would likely rile the majority of Liverpool supporters, who have been very supportive of the forward during his various misdemeanours since his 2011 arrival from Ajax.

Will Luis Suarez actually move to Arsenal?
