Arsene Wenger hoping to secure deal for Argentine ace

Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping that Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain will be his first signing of the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Higuain has grown frustrated in the Spanish capital after a season without any silverware and now Jose Mourinho has left, he hopes to follow suit to the Premier League.

The Argentinean striker is worth around £20million but the Gunners face stiff competition for his signature with Manchester City, Juventus and PSG all interested.

Wenger met with the 25 year olds representatives in Paris this week to thrash out a deal before other bidders come calling as Arsenal are keen to tie down the striker as soon as possible.

Arsenal have failed to replace the goals of Robin van Persie in their side and last summer’s signings Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud have failed to find their feet in English football.

“Arsenal? They would suit me. I’m still young and I have goals,” Higuain said.
