Arsene Wenger in bullish mood

Arsenal manager Arsene WengerArsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his side can still make it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, despite trailing Bayern Munich 3-1 heading into the second-leg.

The Gunners slipped to defeat at the hands of their Bundesliga rivals at the Emirates Stadium last month, with some suggesting the three away goals they need to score at the Allianz Arena is simply too large of a task.

This claim is justified further by the fact that no team has managed to breach the Bavarian side’s defence on that many occasion in a single game all season.

But, Wenger refused to concede defeat already, insisting that Arsenal face a tough, but not unachievable task:

“It is not mission impossible.” He told the club’s official website.

“It can be done, but first of all you need 100 per cent commitment, attitude and things to go your way. But usually football goes your way when you have the right attitude.”

The Frenchman is also hoping that their opponents may be a little complacent in the second-leg, and urged his team to play with freedom to exploit any weaknesses:

“There is a kind of (feeling of) ‘let’s really play with freedom’. Let’s start strong. We have to create doubt in their mind and you only do that if you have a real go.

“The chance you have is to (make) insecure the certainty Bayern have at the moment. That you can only do if you perform at your best.”
