The Congo international has been one of the Baggies’ most consistent performers for some time, and has developed a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top enforcers with a series of rugged displays.
But, the man who arrived at the club for just £150,000 in 2009 from Paris Saint-Germain has hinted that he is ready to move on in the New Year.
The 26-year-old says that Arsenal have made their interest known to him on multiple occasions, and that he is ready to make a big move:
“I’ve had approaches from Arsenal,” he is quoted by The Mirror.
“I could leave this winter. This is the right time for me to set my sights higher. I’m ready to join a top-four club.
Mulumbu went on to aim a swipe at his current club and team-mates by questioning their attitude and capabilities:
“We are not professional enough in the way we manage our games – for example our draw at Chelsea. We are not mature enough.”
Arsenal have been linked with a move for a defensive midfielder over the winter, and may act upon Mulumbu’s desire to leave the Midlands.
Does Youssouf Mulumbu deserve a big move? Could he be a hit at Arsenal?
