Arsenal face competition in the market for Roma ace Cengiz Under as Bayern Munich have joined the hunt, Turkish-Football reports.

What's the word?

Unai Emery is seeking improvements for his Arsenal squad despite enjoying a nine-game winning streak and a new winger could be top of his wishlist after the Gunners failed to adequately replace Alexis Sanchez after his move to Manchester United.

Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat has his eye on Roma talent Cengiz Under, Turkish-Football reports, but the Gunners face competition in the market as CalcioMercato adds Bayern Munich are plotting a £55m bid for the Turkey international.

However, Arsenal may have the edge as it is added that Under would prefer a move to the Premier League or La Liga if he were to leave the Italian capital - although he currently has no intention of leaving Roma.

A good signing?

While Alex Iwobi has improved significantly under the guidance of Unai Emery, the Nigeria international is still a long way off the level of Alexis Sanchez and is not yet the sort of player who strikes fear into an opposition.

Cengiz Under, who has scored one goal and contributed two assists in five Serie A appearances this season, would probably be a slight upgrade on Iwobi, but is he really worth paying a high fee for when they already have an 22-year-old who is developing and can get even better?

Yes, Under would be a signing that would be another statement of intent for Arsenal, but Emery should keep the faith with the Nigeria international instead and try and turn him into a world-beater.
