Becali confirms Arsenal transfer close

Ciprian Marica (Romania)Ciprian Marica’s agent has revealed that his client is close to agreeing a deal to join Arsenal, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The Romanian international was released by Schalke over the summer, and is currently without a club.

After failing with a late move for Demba Ba, Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is keen to find a striking option to support Olivier Giroud, leaving him with only free agents to consider.

The 27-year-old is one of a number of experienced attackers currently unattached and has been linked with a number of clubs, including West Ham.

Marica’s agent, Ioan Becali, says that interest in the player is high, and that a move to Arsenal is a possibility:

“Marica is a really great striker who has already got experience in western European football and so it’s natural that big clubs are eyeing his career,

“He’s close to joining Arsenal, but we have to wait for the next week.”

Marica brings plenty of experience, having won league titles in Ukraine and Romania, played in the Champions League and claimed over 60 international caps.

The forward is free to join a Premier League side, despite the transfer window having closed.

Arsenal fans, would Ciprian Marica be a good short-term option?
