Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno finally made his Premier League debut for the Gunners against Watford on Saturday when he replaced Petr Cech just before half time. Cech went down after a goal kick and immediately called to be substituted.
Arsenal fans have long been waiting to see the German in action and thought he would be the first-choice ‘keeper when manager Unai Emery signed him from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. But Cech has been captaining the side in the Premier League since the very first match against Manchester City, with Leno watching on from the bench.
The 26-year-old, however, proved to be very solid when he got his chance, making a number of vital saves to keep the Hornets out. Arsenal eventually went on to win the game 2-0, with Leno keeping a clean sheet in the process.
With Cech expected to be on the sidelines for a while, this could present the 6 foot 3 glovesman with the perfect opportunity to show his worth. Here are some of Twitter reactions from Arsenal fans regarding Leno’s performance:
He made a quality save to deny Deeney today, hopefully more to come!

When he came in he was massively lacking confidence. I feel this game was a huge boost for his confidence and he was very commanding todag
