Bielik can impress Arsenal boss Emery from afar if he joins Charlton Athletic

Krystian Bielik is closing in on a loan move to League One club Charlton Athletic, according to Eleven Sports reporter Tomasz Cwiakala.

What’s the word?

The 20-year-old signed for the Gunners from Legia Warsaw in 2015, but has had to wait for his breakthrough and he has only made two appearances for them in all competitions.

Last season, the defender spent half of the campaign on loan at Birmingham City and the remainder of it at Walsall.

With Unai Emery taking over from Arsene Wenger, Bielik may have thought that he would get an opportunity.

However, according to Eleven Sports reporter Tomasz Cwiakala, the Polish Under-21 international will move two leagues down to play for Charlton on loan.

Is this the best option?

Even though the Gunners struggled with problems in defence last season, it is unlikely that Bielik would be handed much game time in the first team.

Laurent Koscielny is on the treatment table with injury until the winter, but Emery recruited Sokratis in the summer window.

Shkodran Mustafi started at the back in last weekend’s opening Premier League 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, and the German is likely to keep his place.

Even if Bielik is not at Arsenal this season, he can still try to impress Emery by putting in solid displays elsewhere.

If he does, then the defender could get his chance at the Emirates in the 2019-20 campaign.
