Long term Arsenal target William Carvalho is being lined up for a possible move to Real Madrid, as reported by Metro.
The 23-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium since last summer and Metro claim he was one of Arsene Wenger’s top targets this transfer window.
But Carvalho, who was voted as the player of the U21 European Championships last month, has also emerged as a top target of new Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez.
Metro report Benitez is considering a possible £18million move for the defensive midfielder and appear to be undeterred by the player’s current stress fracture injury, which is thought to have been the reason why Arsenal have cooled their interest.
And it is also being reported that Atletico Madrid are keen on the youngster’s signature, too, and could go head-to-head with their arch rivals Real before the window closes later this month.
