The centre-back has been recently linked with Arsenal, after impressing the London side with his performances this season, which have led to Atletico challenging Real Madrid for second in the La Liga table.
Miranda was recently called back up to the Brazil national squad, coming on as a substitute in the defeat to England in February. However, playing permanently in England isn’t on Miranda’s agenda.
“I am very happy. I have been working to earn a new contract and I think this is a good deal for both parties,” he told TalkSport.
“I feel great at Atletico, it feels like home. Madrid is a city I love. I am very happy here.”
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a successful career with Atletico since joining the club in January 2011, winning the Europa League last season and then the Super Cup against Champions League winners Chelsea.
The news will come as a disappointment for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who will be looking to strengthen his team’s defence in the summer after their poor performances this season.
Atletico Madrid are currently third and just one point behind rivals Real Madrid, with eleven games left in the La Liga calendar.
