Bayern Munich are reportedly eying a shock move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to Metro.
The German champions have been tracking the 25-year-old for some time now and may decide to capitalise on his current frustration at being played out of position by boss Arsene Wenger.
And a return to Germany could tempt Ozil in to throwing in the towel on his short stay in the Premier League, where he has infamously failed to live up to his club record £42million price tag.
And the midfielder has also slammed critics who have been questioning his commitment to Arsenal’s cause this season.
He said recently: “I have the feeling that I am criticised more, that happened to me in the Bundesliga and also at Real Madrid.
“I don’t play to prove anything to anybody, I play for Arsenal.”
