Many would have thought that Calum Chambers would play a role in Arsenal’s defence this season after he signed a new contract.
However, it appears that manager Unai Emery intends to send the 23-year-old out on loan.
According to BBC Sport, Chambers is on the verge of joining newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham on a temporary deal.
The centre-back has been at Arsenal since 2014 when he signed from Southampton, but he has been in and out of the team since.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Chambers was loaned out to Middlesbrough, where he made 24 appearances in all competitions and ended up scoring one goal and creating a single assist.

Last season, the defender had 25 outings, but only 12 of them were in the Premier League for Arsenal.
If the stories are true that Chambers is heading to Craven Cottage in the next few days, then Emery must feel that he needs more experience before coming into the Gunners’ first XI.
On Reddit, Arsenal fans have been posting their thoughts on the rumour.
