2016 was a big year for young Alex Iwobi at Arsenal, with the young Nigerian establishing himself within the first-team picture at the back-end of last season before being a regular in the Gunners set-up this season.
In 2017, Iwobi will be looking to cement himself as a starter for the Gunners, surpassing the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey in the pecking order, which will be a stern test of the youngster’s ability.
Team-mate Francis Coquelin is backing the young African star to make 2017 is year though, explaining why when speaking to Arsenal’s official website.
“Alex had his breakthrough season but this year he can confirm it even more,”
“I really like the way he plays. He’s got technique and quick passing. The only thing he needs to add now is goals and he will be a complete player, but he’s a player I really like. 2017 can be his year.”
With the wealth of ability Arsenal have within their ranks, Iwobi will need to improve his consistency if he is to remain a regular for the Gunners as this season he has been rather lacklustre at times.
