Arsenal are yet to make a move for Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi, making it unlikely that a deal will be done ahead of their Premier League opener against Liverpool on Sunday, according to reports from Marca.
The Gunners have been hit by a defensive injury crisis over the course of the past week, with both Gabriel and Per Mertesacker having been ruled out with long-term issues.
With Laurent Koscielny’s lack of match fitness after a late return from EURO 2016 added to this, Arsene Wenger is facing a selection headache ahead of his side’s clash with Liverpool this weekend, which prompted speculation in recent days that a move for Mustafi could be launched with a view to getting him in in time for the game.
However, Marca (below) have revealed that no offer for the Germany international has been made by the north London club, leaving a near impossible deadline in terms of agreeing a move in the coming days.
Mustafi played and scored for Germany at EURO 2016 and has been a huge hit at both Sampdoria and Valencia since leaving Everton as a youngster.
