Arsenal booked their place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with a 2-0 victory over Reading on Tuesday evening but it seems like this trophy will continue to elude Arsene Wenger, who has not lifted the League Cup in his 20 years in charge of the Gunners.
The north London giants earned a home clash with Southampton in the last eight and, although avoiding the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, the draw could prove to be their downfall as the Gunners have struggled against top-flight opponents recently in this competition.

In the EFL Cup Arsenal have lost their last three home fixtures against fellow Premier League sides – with one of those being Southampton two years ago.
It may be down to the fact that Arsenal often field irregular sides in the competition but their squad on Tuesday included the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud and Gabriel Paulista.
Arsenal will aim to halt this unwanted record at the end of November when they host Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.
