Reports from Spain claim the 6 foot 2 France international has grown discontent with his role at the Bernabeu after finishing the season behind Pepe and Sergio Ramos in the pecking order.
Should that instigate an abrupt departure during the summer transfer window, Foot Mercato claim Los Blancos will turn their attentions to Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny as the 23-year-old’s direct replacement.
The 30-year-old has established himself as a key component of the Gunners’ backline since signing from FC Lorient in summer 2010.
He made 44 appearances across all competitions last season and is currently serving as Arsenal captain, following Mikel Arteta’s retirement in May.
No fee is mentioned in regards to Koscielny but rated as one of the top defenders in the Premier League, the north London club certainly won’t be letting him leave on the cheap this summer.
