Former Arsenal attacker Gervinho has hit back at claims his wild demands scuppered a potential £10m move to UAE side Al-Jazira.
The former Gunner is currently plying his trade in Italy with Roma, where he has revived his career after a difficult spell in North London.
However, reports have suggested that a switch to the Middle East was an option for the Ivory Coast international, until Al-Jazira backed out due to his crazy demands.
It’s said that Gervinho wanted a helicopter, housing for himself and his family, regular flights back to his home nation and a private beach, on top of his salary, to make the move, which the club baulked at.
However, the winger took to Facebook to deny these allegations:
“I do not usually comment on rumours (about) the transfer window but today some people have gone too far, I deny all the information published in recent hours about any transfer.”
Al-Jazira are one of many cash-rich sides on the UAE footballing map and boast names such as former Roma striker Mirko Vucinic and seven-time Brazil international Thiago Neves.
