Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela has confessed that he has no interest in re-joining Arsenal this summer.
The Mexican spent a largely unsuccessful stint in the Premier League with the Gunners, before heading to Spain on a permanent basis last year.
His form in La Liga has been impressive, with his 12 goals helping Real Sociedad move into contention for a spot in next season’s Champions League.
This has led to speculation that Arsenal may look to utilise a £4m buy-back clause they inserted into the deal when the 24-year-old left.
But, Vela says he has no desire to return to the Emirates Stadium and is perfectly happy with his current employers:
“Arsenal are a big team who gave me the opportunity to play in Europe. I will always remember that, but I didn’t have the opportunities that I felt I deserved.” He is quoted by talkSPORT via EFE.
“I am very happy here (at Real Sociedad) and would like to stay here.”
Vela initially joined Arsenal in 2005, but moved away from north London on four separate loan deals.
Arsenal are also believed to be keen on the attacker’s team-mate Antoine Griezmann.
The 22-year-old Frenchman is widely thought of as one of the finest talents in La Liga, and has made over 100 appearances for Real Sociedad despite his youthful age.
