Fabregas-esque… Arsenal ready to steal Euro giants’ promising star

Arsenal are readying a move to steal Alex Grimaldo from Barcelona on a free transfer, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Gunners have a history of snapping up youngsters from the Catalan giants, with Cesc Fabregas, perhaps, the most notable example, while Hector Bellerin also hails from the La Masia set-up.

And reports claim that Arsene Wenger is ready to swoop once again, with Grimaldo attracting attention from north London.

The 20-year-old left-back currently captains Barca’s ‘B’ team in the third tier of Spanish football, and despite being highly-rated his path into the senior side is firmly blocked by Jordi Alba.

It’s understood that Grimaldo is worried about this and is looking to leave the La Liga champions in a bid to play regular football at the top level.

Further to this, the starlet’s contract also expires at the end of the season.
