Alexis Sanchez has been making headlines of late for his impressive performances on the pitch, as well as for his apparent contract stand-off with Arsenal.

The latest twist in the ‘will he/won’t he’ sign saga comes from The Mirror, which reports that the big wigs in the Chinese Super League are prepared to offer Sanchez £400,000-a-week wages.

The staggering salary package would not be matched by any of Europe’s elite, and there are concerns over the Chile international’s future at the Emirates as the current stumbling block in negotiations seems to be about wages.

The newspaper claims that Sanchez’s camp are telling Arsenal that the attacker should be one of the highest-paid players at the club, which would involve a significant increase on his current salary, which sees him pocket £130,000 per week.

Like teammate Mesut Ozil, the 27-year-old has 18 months remaining on his current deal, and with rumours that clubs from the Far East are willing to bump up his pay packet, Sanchez sits in a strong position at the negotiating table.

Considering how crucial Sanchez has become to Arsene Wenger’s team, it would be foolish to lose him, particularly as he has been thriving in a centre-forward role by scoring 13 goals in all competitions, as well as producing seven assists.

After hearing news about rumoured interest from China, fans have taken to Twitter to give their reactions.
