Thierry Henry’s Premier League record of the most assists in one season is in serious danger of being beaten – by Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.
Henry set the record in the 2002/2003 season after notching 20 assists, while Frank Lampard came close a couple of years later when he registered 18.
But incredibly Mesut Ozil already has 12 assists to his name after just 15 games, which means he’s well on course to eclipse Henry’s record this term.
Not only that, but Ozil’s assist in the Gunners’ 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the weekend means he’s now the best performaing playmaker across Europe’s top five leagues at the moment. Not bad for a player who was labelled a £42.5million flop not long ago, is it?
