A transfer story that emerged at some point yesterday evening, both sides of North London are reportedly planning a January swoop for former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato, now with Corinthians.
The 24 year-old netted 51 times in 117 Serie A appearances before moving back to his native Brazil last January for a £12million fee.
But since his Corinthians switch, the Brazil international has found just 16 goals in 52 appearances, and Director Roberto de Andrade has refused to rule out selling Pato at the turn of the year.
With few Brazilian clubs able to meet the former Milan star’s lofty value, a move back to Europe appears most likely, with Spurs and Arsenal the most heavily linked.
The silky striker is a clinical finisher with great dribbling ability and a lethal turn of pace, and he’s reportedly seen as the ideal forward to act as cover for Olivier Giroud for the remainder of the season.
Corinthians’ asking price remains unknown, but considering he’s a big name with a strong track record in the Italian top flight and still under 25 years of age, a fee around the £20million mark for Pato seems likely.
