Someone somewhere thought a Yoann Gourcuff to Arsenal story would brighten up everyone’s day. It hasn’t. It’s just a bit annoying. The French midfielder hasn’t done anything of note since his title-winning season with Bordeaux, a campaign that was accentuated by a sensational goal against PSG. Wenger has a knack for bringing the best out of troubled players, but this is a step too far. Gourcuff has a history of injury problems and would offer very little to the current Arsenal setup. In all honesty, I don’t believe there is much stock that can be placed in a rumour that lazily springs up every summer.
