Bulgarian top flight side Ludogorets Razgrad travel to London and the Emirates Stadium tonight as they face Arsenal in their third group game of the Champions League campaign.
Ludogorets currently sit joint bottom of Group A having drawn with FC Basel in their opening fixture and lost to French Champions PSG 3-1 at home.
Despite not managing to secure a victory as of yet, Georgi Dermendzhiev's side have certainly looked threatening and will be no walkover for an in-form Arsenal side.
Currently sitting second in the Bulgarian first division having won seven of their nine games this season, the Eagles will be full of confidence ahead of the fixture, especially considering their fine goalscoring form - they've notched 25 already this season in the league, which is more than any other club in the division.
Travelling to the Emirates will be a big occasion for the club considering their home stadium's capacity is a mere 8,808, however, Arsenal should beware of their minnow opponents. Here are FIVE things Gunners fans will want to know about the Razgrad side...
Club on the Rise
Believe it or not, Ludogorets were founded a mere 15 years ago. This season is their second in the Champions League - they are the first ever Bulgarian club to achieve that feat.
15 years?! That means they have existed only a little longer than MK Dons, who are currently sat near the bottom of League 1. Ludogorets are ambitious, and that ambition will carry them a long way.
Past Results
In their only other Champions League campaign, Ludogorets shocked many with some brilliant results. A 1-0 victory over Basel was their first win, however, the memorable 2-2 draw with Liverpool was, perhaps, the highlight as they showed they certainly have the ability to mix it with Europe's elite. Further narrow 2-1 defeats to the Reds and Real Madrid only further improved the club's reputation.
Natural Winners
The Bulgarian side have won the past five league titles on home soil, something no other top flight club in Europe has managed to do in the past two decades. They are used to winning and have carried that form into this current season, as previously mentioned, with seven wins in nine league games so far. They will want to keep that ball rolling with a shock victory over favourites Arsenal.
Samba Style
Perhaps part of the reason for the club's brilliant successes over the past few years has been their recruitment. While the club does have a strong Bulgarian contingent, they also have eight first-team players who hail from Brazil, including the highly rated midfielder and club vice-captain, Marcelinho. Their style in terms of additions is reminiscent of Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, who also have a strong Brazilian core to their side.
Italian Acknowledgement
While not pertinent to the fixture, the following is interesting regardless. The club are nicknamed the 'Eagles' due to their location in Bulgaria - the Ludogorie region (meaning 'region of wild forests'). Lazio, who are also known as the 'Eagles', presented the Bulgarian club with a live eagle as their mascot which is now known as 'Fortuna'.
