Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo is closing in on a move to Arsenal and says he turned down approaches from other clubs.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been tracking the highly-rated 20-year-old for some time and confirmed last week that a deal was finally close to going through.
Sanogo has now confirmed he will be heading to the Emirates Stadium and is looking forward to developing his career under the leadership of Wenger.
“Arsenal could be a great club for me, I scored nine goals this season with Auxerre and they think I can improve my level in England,” he told Sky Sports.
“I am pleased to be following in the footsteps of Abou Diaby who came through from Auxerre. There are many teams interested in me, but Arsenal is my choice.”
Sanogo is out of contract with Auxerre but as he is under the age of 23, the Gunners will have to pay the French outfit compensation.
