The Bavarian club still retain a strong interest in Ozil following his club-record £42 million move to Arsenal from Real Madrid last summer, and after coming under fire for a number of under-par performances for the Gunners, Bayern believe that a move for the player could be on the cards in January.
Bayern boss Pep Guardiola remains a big fan of Ozil and is certain that a return to Germany could see him thrive. The arrival of Alexis Sanchez has thrown the German’s future into doubt, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s desire to play Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey in the same side has often seen Ozil played out of position.
The Arsenal star thank the fans following the Gunners’ 3-0 victory over Aston Villa last weekend, and also had some strong words for his detractors.
“I don’t play to prove anything to anybody, I play for Arsenal. I have the feeling that I am criticised more, that happened to me in the Bundesliga and also at Real Madrid.” said Ozil.
“We have only just started the season at Arsenal, we have new players in key positions.”
