Arsene Wenger has not given up on signing Real Madrid stopper Iker Casillas, despite failing to secure a move for him in the summer, according to Metro.
It had been reported that the Spain international was close to signing for the north London club, but a deal never materialised ahead of the transfer deadline.
But Wenger is hoping to return for the 33-year-old this January after learning of Real’s willingness to find a suitable replacement this winter.
The Gunners boss sees Casillas as the ideal stopper to provide much needed competition for Wojciech Sczcesney between the sticks at the Emirates Stadium.
Tottenham and Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested, but it is believed the experienced glovesman would prefer a move to Arsenal.
