Hull boss backs Arsenal newbie to prove Man United wrong

Steve Bruce believes that Danny Welbeck will be a big success at Arsenal and prove his former club Manchester United‘s decision to let him leave was an unwise one.

The England international joined the Gunners in a £16m deal over the summer after slipping down the pecking order after the arrival of Radamel Falcao.

Although an academy graduate and a fans’ favourite at Old Trafford, Louis van Gaal slammed the 23-year-old’s abilities, claiming that his lack of killer edge in front of goal had cost him a future with the Red Devils.

Since then Welbeck has gone on to enjoy a bright start to life in north London, with a Champions League hat-trick against Galatasaray the highlight of his fledgling Arsenal career.

And Bruce, who wanted to take the forward to Hull, says that United will end up regretting the decision they made:

”Danny is a top, top player, there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind about that. And I believe he could play in any of the top teams around Europe.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“When I was Sunderland manager four years ago, I took Danny on loan for a season because he was at the stage of his development where he needed to go and play week-in, week-out in the Premier League.

“I got the boy, and then sent him back to United a man. And, after working with him, I know for sure that he’s good enough to get into any side, anywhere.

“Believe me, you stick him down the middle as a striker and he will score plenty, that’s for sure.”
