HYS: Does Wilshere deserve his England call-up?

Another England squad, another spate of controversial selections – not least including midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The Arsenal favourite’s received preferential treatment for the majority of his Three Lions career, with managers continually¬†selecting him on potential rather than form, or even fitness.

Indeed, Wilshere’s injury problems have limited him to just 105 Premier League appearances for the Gunners yet he’s still picked up 34 caps since 2010 – which tells its own story of firstly, bias amongst the England camp and secondly, how irresponsible managers have been in placing extra demand on an injury-prone youngster.

Now 24, the playmaking midfielder completed a shock loan move to Bournemouth during the latter stages of the summer transfer window, in a bid to get some minutes under his belt and revive his stuttering career.

And despite hardly setting the world alight at the Vitality Stadium – indeed, Wilshere’s yet to record a goal or an assist in the No.10 role and his overall Whoscored rating is just 6.67 – interim manager Gareth Southgate has called up the Gunners man for coming England fixtures with Scotland and Spain.

As you can probably tell, Football FanCast aren’t too impressed by Wilshere’s inclusion, with the player seemingly qualifying for a place in the 25-man squad by simply not getting injured for two months.

But we like to bring the opinion of the fans into the debate as much as possible, so we’re asking all England supporters a simple question; does Wilshere deserve his place in the latest Three Lions squad?

Simply vote on our exclusive poll below and we’ll publish the results later this week!
